  • Limit Sugary Foods and Drinks: Reduce your intake of sugary foods and drinks, as they feed the bacteria that cause cavities.
  • Drink Plenty of Water: Water helps rinse away food particles and bacteria, reducing the risk of decay.
  • Chew Sugar-Free Gum: Chewing sugar-free gum stimulates saliva production, which helps neutralize acids and wash away food particles.  
  • Regular Dental Check-ups: Schedule regular dental check-ups and cleanings to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Your dentist can also apply fluoride treatments to strengthen your teeth.
  • Consider Dental Sealants: Dental sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent food particles and bacteria from entering the grooves and causing decay.

  • Monitor Your Child’s Brushing: Supervise your child’s brushing until they are old enough to brush effectively on their own.
  • Limit Juice Intake: Excessive juice consumption can contribute to tooth decay.
  • Avoid Prolonged Pacifier Use: Prolonged pacifier use can lead to misaligned teeth and an increased risk of cavities.
